This is a great way for students to start guitar lessons at affordable prices. Classes are small (5), fun and educational. Parents also get to gauge their child’s interest in guitar lessons without the huge costs of private lessons. If their child shows interest and potential, then they could move on to private lessons. The teachers are fun, enthusiastic, and a good influence on all their students. The minimum age is 8 years old and the cost is $25 for a one hour class. Students not only learn basic strumming, chord progressions but also various genres of music like Rock and Jazz.
Our piano workshops are the best value for beginners. Classes are $25 per one hour lesson. But the piano workshop is more than just a piano class. It is also a very advanced music theory class (the reading and writing of music) as well. Although most of our students are grade school age, many of them read and write music at the college level. The reason why is that music is quite intriguing to our young students because it is like a math that they could write, play and listen to. We also use games to reinforce music concepts. Students think it is only a game and adds to the fun of the class. But teachers use games to sharpen the skills of the students. With a little competition in the class, students have a tendency to pay attention a little more because they want to do better in the games. With this knowledge, reading music becomes more predictable and easier to read.
Vocal lessons are provided by vocal coach Greg Farbizio and Oak Grove High School Choir Director, Minh Thai. Both Greg and Minh have been with Darrell Leffler‘s Academy of Music for over 25 years. Many of Greg’s students have reached stardom like Thia Megia (American Idol & actress) & Tracy Cruz (Recording Artist). Minh has taken his students all over the world to sing including Europe. Students learn how to strengthen their singing muscles as well as expand their vocal range. Both Minh and Greg teach various styles of music including Pop, Classical and Broadway tunes.
